New Leaf Farm-Refugee Community Outreach

September 3 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm CDT

New Leaf Farm on Saturday, September 3rd from 9 AM-12 PM in Elgin TX.  Scroll down to view the address and map.

New Leaf Farm is one sector of the non-profit company known as Multicultural Refugee Coalition. They provide employment opportunities and a fair wage through dignified work for refugees, immigrants, and asylees from six countries across the globe.  More information can be found at: https://www.mrcaustin.org/mission

You will be working alongside refugee farmers during the volunteer shift. Each day, the activities are different and can range from mulching to weeding to planting. Some heavy lifting may be required as well as the use of gardening tools. New Leaf employees are committed to your safety and will take every reasonable precaution to keep you safe. Face masks are required upon arrival. You will not have to wear the mask the entire time but will need to when processing produce or when near other people. Long pants, shirts, gardening gloves, hats, and close-toed shoes should be worn.

The first 10 people to register as volunteers will be accepted. Currently, no more than 10 volunteers are allowed at one time. If you are not able to attend this time, but would like to in the future then please let us know and we will notify you whenever future opportunities arise. We will have your group sign up through Eventbrite for the liability waivers and photo releases. Youth ages 12-17 may volunteer with a signed parent/guardian waiver and the parent/guardian must be present during the volunteer time.  Your link to sign up is here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/shepherd-of-the-hills-christian-church-group-at-the-new-leaf-farm-tickets-255344160257

Please print out your completed waiver/ticket that will be emailed to you upon signing up using the link above.  Bring the printed ticket with you on the day of the event.  In addition to registering through Eventbrite, please RSVP to Jessica, [email protected], because she is our church group contact for this event.

Whenever you arrive there is a driveway with a small white New Leaf Farm sign in front of it. Drive down the gravel road and park in front of the open-sided barn by the trailer/walk-in cooler. The farm is on the back end of the property so you cannot see it from the parking area. New Leaf Assistant Farm Manager, Virgil, will meet you near the parking area.  Thank you in advance for your acts of service and we look forward to seeing you there!
