Minister, Rev. Greg Lanier
Greg Lanier grew up in Austin, Texas. Following graduation from the University of Texas at Austin he earned an MBA from the University of North Texas and worked as a commercial banker in Dallas, TX and in North Carolina. Greg is a graduate of Brite Divinity School (TCU) and was ordained as a Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) minister in 1996. Prior to joining the staff at Shepherd of the Hills, Greg served with congregations in Ft. Worth, TX and in the Kansas City area.
In addition to serving at Shepherd of the Hills Christian Church (SHCC), Greg serves on the board of the Samaritan Center in Austin. Greg and his wife Dawn enjoy UT and Baylor sporting events, live music and keeping up with family and friends. ([email protected])
Associate Minister, Rev. Jeff Robinett
Jeff Robinett is a native of Brady, Texas and is a 1977 graduate of Texas A&M University, as well as a 1982 graduate of Brite Divinity School (TCU). Jeff has served pastorates in Leicester, Leicestershire, UK; San Angelo, Coleman, and Texarkana, Texas. He also received chaplaincy training at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo and is currently serving as a Hospice Chaplain for Merida Health Care Group.
In addition to spiritual care, Jeff is very interested in forms of worship, creative expressions of spirituality (particularly through music and writing), and the sharing of ideas through Christian education. He has been ordained since May of 1982 and also has the endorsement of the Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) for the specialized ministry of chaplaincy. Jeff has been blessed to serve in a variety of pastorates during his career and has found each one of them to be an opportunity for learning and growing.
Jeff is married to Vickie and together they have 5 children: Jenna Borders, Ian Robinett, Kelsey Groves, Holt Robinett, and Carly Robinett. They are also proud grandparents to Hudson and Ella Borders, and Lillian Robinett. ([email protected])
Rod Coleman, Minister Emeritus
Reverend Rod Coleman is the founding pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Christian Church and has been involved in the ministry here since 1984. He is a graduate of Texas Christian University and Brite Divinity School (TCU Seminary). He also has a Masters Degree in Counseling from Texas State University and a Doctor of Ministry from the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Rod is a retired Army Chaplain (Colonel) and occasionally volunteers with the Samaritan Center for Counseling and Pastoral Care’s Hope for Heroes Counseling Program.
Rod and his wife Mary Ann joyfully share a collection of four children and three grandchildren, plus Chester the family dog. Rod also enjoys running and traveling, which are happily blended into church and family activities.
Christina Johnson, Church Administrator
Born in Ft. Collins, Colorado, Christina moved to Central Texas at the age of three, so she insists on claiming Texas as her home state. She grew up in Belton, Texas and after graduating high school went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Radio-TV-Film.
Between then and now, Christina lived a summer in Ireland, worked at a newspaper writing obituaries and worked four and half years helping to develop a Bible study software program here in Austin, Texas. But she’s never had a better job than the one she’s found right here at SHCC. Christina enjoys running, living life with her awesome friends and learning more about Jesus every day. Jessica Aguilar, Director of Children’s Education
Jessica was born in Mississippi and spent about half of her childhood in Germany as a military dependent. Jessica earned her M.S. in Education from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. She taught elementary school for ten years. Part of that time was at Christian schools.
Jessica loves sharing her faith with children through interactive Christian education opportunities, lessons and community outreach opportunities. She has led and volunteered with numerous children’s activities and family events over the years. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing board games, stargazing, traveling and going to the beach. Jessica and her husband Max love animals and have four fur-babies and fish at home. Jessica has enjoyed being part of the SHCC Community for the past five years and looks forward to welcoming new visitors, families, and children. ([email protected])
Lyshone “Joy” McFarland, Nursery
Lyshone is originally from Las Vegas, Nevada. She studied Early Childhood Development at Sacramento City College before moving to Texas. She lives in Austin with her husband Daniel and their two sons Ian and Bryce. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking and home improvement projects. Lyshone has worked at SHCC for almost sixteen years and has watched many of the children that visit and are members of SHCC grow up. Lyshone primarily works with the infants and toddlers at SHCC. They have become like family to her in many ways.
Iain Sturrock, Music Director
Iain Sturrock has been performing and composing music since childhood. He has been grateful to pursue these passions across the United States as a guest clinician and conductor, commissioned composer, and vocalist, as well as throughout South America and Europe as conductor and performer. Iain’s conducting background is colorful and diverse, having led children’s choirs, professional chamber groups, collegiate choirs, full orchestras, and everything in between. Iain has been privileged to receive several awards and honors both for his compositions and performances, and has had the honor of working with renowned conductors in masterclass and workshop settings. Iain holds degrees in voice performance and choral conducting from Temple University, Philadelphia, where he conducted several ensembles, taught conducting, and performed regularly with many of Philadelphia’s prestigious ensembles. In the fall of 2017, he joined the studio of Dr. James Morrow as a doctoral candidate in conducting at the University of Texas, Austin. Iain hopes to continue to use the power of music as an agent for community engagement and social change here at SHCC and beyond. ([email protected])
Daniel Hawkins, Pianist
Daniel was born in Zanesville, Ohio and moved to Austin at the age of eight. Daniel has been playing piano since he was seven years old. He grew up listening to his mother and older siblings play the piano, guitar, and listening to musicals. After high school, he studied Trombone Performance at the University of Texas in Austin before switching his focus to physics and earning his B.S. in 2013. Since then, he has worked for a restaurant group that operates the Iron Cactus and Z’Tejas restaurant brands as well as at SHCC. Daniel is a talented musician and a valued part of our worship team. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with friends and reading lots of Sci-Fi/Fantasy.
