During last week’s sermon I asked the question, “Why do we choose to settle for less than a full and vibrant relationship with the God who loves us and longs to be in an eternal relationship with us?” Some of the answers are obvious. We may have chosen to be absorbed in a life of business as we chase the priorities of our world. Perhaps we see ourselves as spiritually tone deaf. Sadly, some of us don’t believe we’re worthy of this relationship.
I recently stumbled across a quote from Helen Hayes that said, “We relish the news of our heroes, forgetting that we are extraordinary to someone too.” I believe we are extraordinary in God’s eyes. If we stop and embrace this reality, we will render ourselves incapable of settling for less than what God has in store for us.
