I approached our church building a couple of mornings ago and noticed a visitor I had never seen before. Perched on top of our cross that crowns the roof our sanctuary was a buzzard. It was a cloudy, gloomy morning and our visitor helped to set the mood for one of the early days in Lent. Now that our building is taller you can see our cross from a greater distance. I take pride in this as I drive toward the river on 360 and most often view our cross as a symbol of hope. On Easter Sunday, we’ll see it as a symbol of the Resurrection. For now, during the darker days of the Lenten season, it’s also appropriate to see the Cross as a reminder of suffering and mortality. Thanks to our feathered friend for the reminder.
