The spiritual development and nurture of children is central to our congregational identity. Children of all ages are welcome and participate in the life of our church through a variety of opportunities.
Sunday School is offered to children of all ages and meets each Sunday at 9:30 AM in the Carnes Education Building.
In Worship, Children’s Sermons are offered each week and our children take responsibility for collecting food for a local food pantry prior to exiting for Children’s Church. Children’s Church is typically attended by those ranging in age from 4 years old through the 4th grade.
Children’s Adventure Time (CAT) takes place every other month on Saturday Evenings and includes activities ranging from “Night Under the Stars” (star-gazing with a local astronomer) to the Hopping House.
Parent’s Night Out takes place on alternate Saturday evenings each month and allows parents to treat their children to a safe night of dinner and games supervised by church staff and adult volunteers.
In addition to Christmas and Easter activities, SHCC looks forward to annual events including Vacation Bible School, which is offered for one week each Summer, and our Fall Festival which is happening next month on October 21st from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM.
The Fall Festival is fun for all ages! There will be games, food, prizes, snacks, and fellowship. Come and see the new booth additions, a hayride, and some time-honored favorites like the Cake Walk and Jack-O-Bingo. Wear your costume, bring a treats bag, and join us for dinner and a great time! Be sure to invite all your friends and family to this exciting event.
Specific dates and times for each event are posted in advance on the church Web Page and in the Newsletter. Nursery is provided for all activities.
