A Disciples of Christ Church in Austin, TX
Our denominational vision is shaped from the words of Micah 6:8:
‘He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?’
This verse expresses an understanding of who we are and can be characterized by the following words,
“To be a faithful, growing church, which demonstrates true community, deep Christian spirituality and a passion for justice.”
The statement of identity for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) can be summarized by the phrase, “We are…a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world.”
The Disciples are known by many as the one “mainline” Christian denomination that was founded in the United States. We have been around since the early 1800’s. Our churches are congregationally ruled, we practice baptism by immersion, and the Lord’s Supper or Communion is celebrated every week. The Table is open to all who are, or long to be, followers of Jesus Christ.
